"Preface The continued interest in the publication of a new edition of this textbook by neuroscience educators and students in several medical schools and allied health institutions in the United States and abroad has given the impetus to embark on this project. The support of the editorial staff of Taylor and Francis undoubtedly facilitated this work and provided the means for a successful conclusion. The constructive input of a great many colleagues and outstanding individuals in the field of neuroscience and neurology helped to establish the foundation for the direction of this new edition. Consideration has been given to the many helpful suggestions of students with regard to scope and contents of particular chapters. Toward that end, a great effort was directed at the revision of a significant number of schematic drawings and the modification of a number of brain images. The introduction of numerous brain sections and applied radiographic images including angiograms was aimed at enhancing the reader's ability to interpret both structural and functional features of the nervous system within the context of neurologic disorders. The inclusion of multiple colors in the illustrations has facilitated the interpretation of the anatomy of the nervous system and rendered the illustrations an integral part of the documented text. The distinguishing characteristic of this textbook has remained in the presentation of the peripheral and central nervous systems as a continuum within the context of neurological disorders. The massive and ever-changing information in neuroscience required a review of a large number of articles, research papers, and authoritative resources in neuroscience and neurology and incorporation of the most significant facts into the 21 chapters of this work"-- Provided by publisher.
