This paper aims to investigate the effect of teacher’s error correction feedback on EFL students’ ability to correct their own writing errors for better accuracy. It intends to find out whether the instructor’s explicit error feedback followed by students’ extensive revisions, has any effect on students’ ability in revising their errors with their own writing pieces. The results indicated that the effect of teachers’ error feedback on students’ ability to self-correct was not significant. Most of the errors, after given extensive feedback and revision, were not significantly revised after a three-month interval.Việc sửa lỗi, đặc biệt là sửa lỗi ngữ pháp trong văn viết đã được áp dụng từ lâu trong Viết L1 và việc sử dụng nó trong viết L2 luôn được coi là cần thiết. Việc thực hành ngữ pháp trong L2 đã được thử thách đầu tiên và quan trọng nhất kể từ khi Truscott công bố Bài báo năm 1996, trong đó khẳng định rằng “việc sửa ngữ pháp không có chỗ trong các lớp viết và nên bị bỏ đi” (tr. 361). Kể từ đó, đã có cuộc tranh luận gay gắt giữa các học giả về việc làm thế nào để đưa ra nhận xét của GV và phản hồi về lỗi ngữ pháp trong bài viết của HS L2 (Ferris 2012
Truscott 2016).
