This study applies the theoretical framework of the vocative and the forms of address to investigate and categorize the terms of address used in the EnglishVietnamese bilingual story “The Little Prince”. Based on this categorization, a comparative analysis is conducted on the terms of address in Vietnamese and English. The findings reveal three key points: first, the terms of address in Vietnamese exhibit greater diversity and richness compared to English
second, the use of terms of address in both Vietnamese and English is influenced by cultural factors, which shape societal norms, behaviors, and language choices
third, the comparison highlights the psychological, cognitive, and cultural characteristics between the Vietnamese and English-speaking communities.
