Lao Cai is a northern mountainous province with strategic importance in socioeconomic, defense, security, and foreign affairs. Recognizing this significance, the province has been pursuing the objective of economic development in general, and focusing on community based tourism economy in particular while also associating with protecting sovereignty and national border security. This article reflects on the current situation of community-based tourism economic development in the province, highlighting potentially complicated factors related to protecting sovereignty, national border security, defense, and security in the current context, and proposes suitable solutions.Lào Cai là tỉnh miền núi phía Bắc, có vị trí chiến lược cả về kinh tế - xã hội, quốc phòng, an ninh và đối ngoại. Nhận thức rõ điều này, nhiều năm qua, tỉnh vừa quan tâm thực hiện mục tiêu phát triển kinh tế nói chung, phát triển kinh tế du lịch cộng đồng nói riêng vừa gắn với bảo vệ chủ quyền an ninh biên giới quốc gia. Bài viết phản ánh thực trạng việc phát triển kinh tế du lịch cộng đồng tại tỉnh
