To investigate the effects of authentic English textbook adaptation in ESLclassrooms, this study analyzes students’ English proficiency levels before and afterexperiencing an adapted version of National Geographic’s Reach E (2016). It first presentsthe process of adaptation (based on the Pre-While-Post model)
then, it compares students’scores to demonstrate its impact through a series of statistical tests and interviews with theteacher for more information on students’ in-class behaviors. The results show that studentswho studied the adapted version of the textbook performed better than their peers did withoutit.
