Abstract: Descartes established a new paradigm of thought in the Western classical rationalist tradition. In particular, Descartes' dualism is a philosophical doctrine that recognizes the autono mous existence of two entities: matter and consciousness, body and spirit. Nevertheless, the dualism concept is inherently contradictory, as it has not satisfactorily addressed the funda- mental philosophical issue of the relationship between matter and consciousness, thought and existence. As a result of its inherent inconsistency, it frequently degenerates into Idealism. Simultaneously, Descartes established the fundamental methodological principles for his phil- osophical system, which serve as the foundation for the sciences to uncover the truth and assist individuals in navigating nature by acknowledging its laws. Keywords: Descartes, Descartes philosophy, dualistic concept of human being.
