Embryo is biological stem cell. In many countries, the term embryo and its related terms are usually covered by a specialized Act. However, in Vietnam there are not many legal studies on embryos in general and the term embryo in particular. The scope of this article will overview the history of embryology, collect the legal definitions of terms related to embryo in the laws of some countries around the world, thereby making some recommendations for Vietnam in developing legal terminology related to embryo.Phôi là tế bào gốc sinh học. Ở nhiều quốc gia, thuật ngữ phôi và các thuật ngữ liên quan đến phôi thường được quy định trong một Đạo luật chuyên biệt. Tuy nhiên, tại Việt Nam chưa có nhiều các nghiên cứu pháp lý về phôi nói chung và thuật ngữ phôi nói riêng. Phạm vi của bài viết này sẽ khái quát lịch sử về phôi học, thu thập các quy định về thuật ngữ liên quan đến phôi trong pháp luật một số quốc gia trên thế giới, qua đó đưa ra một số kiến nghị cho Việt Nam trong việc xây dựng thuật ngữ pháp lý liên quan đến phôi.
