 The boom of startups in Vietnam has led to an upward trend for intellectual property rights (IPRs) registration since 2014. However, the IPRs registration in Vietnam remains a challenge. The article discusses the importance of intellectual property to Vietnamese startups and brings forward some recommendations to improve the eff ectiveness of IPRs registration. Received 3 April 2019
