In the field of natural resources and environment in particular, and the socio-economic fields in general, the database is an indispensable information system
it has a structure, has the consistency of being stored, accessed and shared with many different forms, serving many needs of exploitation and use. With the continuous development of current science and technology, especially technology 4.0, the optimization of the database ensures flexibility according to user needs, data security, integrity and enhanced accessibility, expanding the ability to share information and being intuitive is the first choice for many database managers. This paper presents initial results of application of open source GIS technology in storing, accessing and sharing database of natural resources and environment Sector, specific research for cadastral database in Thuy Tan commune, Huong Thuy town, Thua Thien - Hue province.Lĩnh vực tài nguyên môi trường nói riêng và các lĩnh vực kinh tế xã hội nói chung, cơ sở dữ liệu là một hệ thống thông tin không thể thiếu
nó có cấu trúc, có tính nhất quán được lưu trữ, truy cập và chia sẻ với nhiều hình thức khác nhau, phục vụ nhiều nhu cầu khai thác sử dụng. Với sự phát triển không ngừng của khoa học kỹ thuật hiện nay, đặc biệt là công nghệ 4.0 thì việc tối ưu hóa cơ sở dữ liệu đảm bảo tính linh hoạt theo nhu cầu người dùng, tính bảo mật toàn vẹn dữ liệu, nâng cao khả năng truy xuất dữ liệu, mở rộng khả năng chia sẻ thông tin và mang tính trực quan đang là sự lựa chọn hàng đầu cho nhiều nhà quản lý cơ sở dữ liệu. Bài báo trình bày kết quả bước đầu ứng dụng công nghệ GIS mã nguồn mở trong việc lưu trữ, truy cập và chia sẻ cơ sở dữ liệu Ngành tài nguyên và môi trường, nghiên cứu cụ thể cho cơ sở dữ liệu địa chính tại xã Thủy Tân, thị xã Hương Thủy, tỉnh Thừa Thiên - Huế.
