Tet is considered a time of changing seasons that marks the end of winterand the beginning of spring. This transition is regarded as the time of the Lunar New Year,which coincides with the Viet (Kinh people)’s the lunar calendar. Nevertheless, such a clearchange of seasons is only actual for the weather from Hai Van Pass forward, while from HaiVan Pass backward, Tet is not the time for change between the seasons. The festivals suchas Ka tê and Rija Nưgar of Cham people as well as new rice celebration of the Raglai in theSouthern Central region illustrate that their Tet and the Viet (Kinh people)’s one takes place atthe different time.Tết là thời điểm thay đổi khí hậu, là thời điểm chuyển mùa. Thời điểm chuyểntừ mùa đông sang mùa xuân được coi là thời điểm tết năm mới, trùng khớp với âm lịch củangười Việt. Nhưng thời điểm chuyển mùa một cách rõ rệt đó chỉ đúng với thời tiết từ đèoHải Vân trở ra. Còn từ đèo Hải Vân trở vào, thời điểm được coi là tết không phải là thời điểmchuyển mùa. Qua nghiên cứu về thời gian của một số lễ hội như Ka tê, lễ hội Rija Nưgar của dântộc Chăm, lễ Ăn mừng lúa mới của người Raglai ở Nam Trung Bộ, có thể thấy thời điểm chuyểnmùa được gọi là tết không trùng với thời điểm tết nguyên đán của người Việt
