Ngay từ khi thành lập, các quốc gia ASEAN đã nhận thức rõ tầm quan trọng của quan hệ hợp tác ngoại khối, hướng tới mục tiêu xây dựng khu vực hoà bình, an ninh, thịnh vượng. Trong những năm qua, Việt Nam đã chứng tỏ được vai trò của một thành viên tích cực trong các hoạt động của ASEAN nói chung và hợp tác ngoại khối nói riêng. Bài viết khái quát thành tựu của ASEAN trong hoạt động hợp tác ngoại khối và vai trò của Việt Nam đối với hoạt động hợp tác ngoại khối của ASEAN trên các phương diện xây dựng sáng kiến thúc đẩy hợp tác và tích cực triển khai các hoạt động nhằm hiện thực hoá những nội dung hợp tác ngoại khối của ASEAN
từ đó đưa ra một số giải pháp nhằm nâng cao vai trò của Việt Nam trong hoạt động hợp tác ngoại khối của Hiệp hội.Since its establishment, ASEAN countries have been aware of the importance of external cooperation towards the goal of building a region of peace, security and prosperity. Over the past few years, Vietnam has demonstrated the role of an active member in participating ASEAN's activities in general and\ external cooperation in particular. The article presents an overview of ASEAN's achievements in external cooperation activities. It also highlights Vietnam's role in ASEAN's external cooperation in terms of building initiatives to promote cooperation and actively implement activities aimed at achieving the ASEAN external cooperation commitments in practice. Finally, the article offers a number of recommendations to enhance Vietnam's role in the Association's external cooperation activities.
