For decades, researchers have considered sustainable development as a harmonious development process between three aspects: sustainable economic development, socially sustainable development, and environmental protection and sustainable development. There are also opinions that in order to develop the country sustainably, it is necessary to pay attention to the sustainable development of culture. Without one of those four pillars, it is impossible to achieve the sustainable development as we wanted.Suốt nhiều thập kỷ, các nhà nghiên cứu coi phát triển bền vững là quá trình phát triển hài hòa giữa ba mặt: phát triển bền vững về kinh tế, phát triển bền vững về xã hội và bảo vệ, phát triển bền vững về môi trường. Nhiều ý kiến cho rằng, muốn phát triển bền vững đất nước thì còn cần phải chú trọng đến sự phát triển bền vững về văn hóa. Thiếu một trong 4 trụ cột thì không thể có sự phát triển bền vững mà chúng ta mong muốn.
