Ngà hoóc is a plant for seeds grown and used popularly by the highland ethnic people in Quang Uyen district, Cao Bang province. According to the local language "Ngà hoóc " which means "hard sesame", the indigenous people always consider this a sesame variety and the use of Ngà hoóc seeds has many similarities with the use of sesame seeds such as: making sesame salt, making sesame seeds, and making sesame seeds, making cake filling... However, when surveyed in the field, Ngà hoóc has many morphological characteristics of the family Lamiaceae. Therefore, this study was conducted to describe morphological characteristics and microscopic analysis of Ngà hoóc. At the same time, conduct qualitative determination of the chemical composition in the seeds of Ngà hoóc. Research results have described in detail the morphological characteristics of the parts: leaves, stems, flowers, fruits, and analyzed microscopically of leaves and stems. Thereby determining the scientific name of the Ngà hoóc is Perilla frutescens var.frutescens, belonging to the genus Perilla, family Lamiaceae, commonly known as white perilla. The results of qualitative chemical composition showed that, in Ngà hoóc seeds contain groups of substances: fats, carotenoids, essential oils, hydrolyzed triterpenoids, alkaloids, flavonoids, organic acids, reducing agents.Ngà hoóc là một loại cây cho hạt được trồng và sử dụng phổ biến bởi đồng bào dân tộc vùng cao thuộc huyện Quảng Uyên, tỉnh Cao Bằng. Theo tiếng địa phương, “Ngà hoóc” tức là “Vừng cứng”, người dân bản địa luôn coi đây là một giống vừng và cách sử dụng hạt Ngà hoóc có nhiều điểm giống với cách sử dụng hạt vừng như: làm muối vừng, làm kẹo lạc, làm mè xửng, làm nhân bánh khảo... Tuy nhiên, khi khảo sát tại thực địa cho thấy, cây Ngà hoóc mang nhiều đặc điểm hình thái của họ Hoa môi (Lamiaceae). Do đó, nghiên cứu này được tiến hành nhằm mô tả đặc điểm hình thái, phân tích vi phẫu cây Ngà hoóc. Đồng thời, tiến hành định tính xác định thành phần hóa học có trong hạt Ngà hoóc. Kết quả nghiên cứu đã mô tả chi tiết đặc điểm hình thái các bộ phận: lá, thân, hoa, quả và phân tích vi phẫu lá, thân. Qua đó xác định được tên khoa học của cây Ngà hoóc là Perilla frutescens var.frutescens, thuộc chi Tía tô (Perilla), họ Hoa môi (Lamiaceae), tên thường gọi là Tía tô trắng. Kết quả định tính thành phần hóa học cho thấy, trong hạt Ngà hoóc có chứa các nhóm chất: Chất béo, carotenoid, tinh dầu, triterpenoid thủy phân, alcaloid, flavonoid, acid hữu cơ, chất khử.
