Social association and community involvement are the new solutions in cultural heritage management and protection strategies today. In a case study in Hue city, this paper aims to discover management and protection strategies based on social association and community involvement with solutions for linking managers and communities, building consensus in targets of protecting and promoting heritage values of communities. This paper explains the role of social associations and communities in cultural management for promoting the protection process of the practices related to the Viet beliefs in the Mother Goddess. This study employs the ethnographic fieldwork methodology in Hue city to explain the perspectives of the social association and community and the status of social association in cultural heritage value protection. The practical implication is some recommendations for protecting cultural heritage-based community involvement.Sự tham gia của tổ chức xã hội và cộng đồng trong quản lý và bảo vệ di sản văn hóa hiện nay là một xu hướng được khuyến khích ở nhiều nước trên thế giới. Bài viết này là kết quả nghiên cứu trường hợp về quản lý và bảo vệ thực hành tín ngưỡng thờ Mẫu ở thành phố Huế, nhằm khám phá phương thức quản lý di sản văn hóa có sự tham gia của tổ chức xã hội và cộng đồng, trong đó tổ chức xã hội là trung gian kết nối giữa nhà quản lý và cộng đồng, tạo lập sự đồng thuận về mục tiêu bảo vệ và phát huy giá trị di sản của cộng đồng. Bài viết đóng góp những phát hiện mới về vai trò của tổ chức xã hội và cộng đồng trong quản lý di sản văn hóa nhằm thúc đẩy tiến trình bảo vệ thực hành tín ngưỡng thờ Mẫu. Thông qua phương pháp điền dã dân tộc học tại thành phố Huế, bài viết cung cấp những kiến giải về quan điểm của tổ chức và cộng đồng, tiến trình xác lập vị thế của cộng đồng đối với bảo vệ di sản văn hóa, đề xuất mô hình bảo vệ di sản văn hóa có sự tham gia của cộng đồng.
