Dracaena fragrans (L.) Ker Gawl., belongs to the Dracaena genus, thus the Asparagaceae family, is distributed mainly in Southeast Asia, West Africa and Viet Nam. This plant has planted for ornamental purpose. In this study, the flavonoid, steroid, cardiac glycoside and steroidal saponin were found present in the ethanolic extract from the leaves of D. fragrans (L.) Ker Gawl., but not for alkaloid, terpenoid and saponin triterpenoid. The isolation of a steroidal saponin was achieved from this extract, and the structure of this compound was further established as 26-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-22-methoxy-5α-furost-(25)27-ene-1β,3β,4,26-tetraol 1-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-fucopyranoside. Further experiments were suggested to isolate other components in the ethanolic extract from the leaves of C. terminalis, and in combination with biological evaluations on those compounds in order to complete the chemotaxonomic data of D. fragrans (L.) Ker Gawl. and the genus Dracaena.Loài Phất dủ thơm có tên khoa học là Dracaena fragrans (L.) Ker Gawl., thuộc chi Dracaena, họ Asparagaceae, có vùng phân bố chủ yếu ở Đông Nam Á, Tây Phi và Việt Nam. Đây là loài thực vật được trồng phổ biến với mục đích làm cảnh. Trong nghiên cứu này, thành phần flavonoid, steroid, glycoside tim và saponin steroid đã được xác định có mặt trong cao chiết ethanol từ phần lá của loài Phất dủ thơm, tuy nhiên không có mặt của alkaloid, terpenoid và saponin triterpenoid. Nghiên cứu đã tiến hành phân lập một hợp chất saponin steroid từ cao chiết và xác định được cấu trúc hóa học là 26-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-22-methoxy-5α-furost-(25)27-ene-1β,3β,4,26-tetraol 1-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-fucopyranoside. Nghiên cứu đề xuất cần tiếp tục tiến hành phân lập các hợp chất khác có trong cao chiết ethanol từ phần lá loài Phất dủ thơm, đặc biệt là thành phần saponin, và tiến hành đánh giá hoạt tính sinh học của các hợp chất này, góp phần hoàn thiện cơ sở dữ liệu về phân loại hóa thực vật của loài Phất dủ thơm nói riêng và chi Dracaena nói chung.
