The US-China relationship is one of the focal points of the world and is of great significance in shaping the landscape of international relations in the 21st century. After becoming the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China in 2012, Mr Xi Jinping came up with the “Chinese Dream” strategy to increase China's power and position on a global scale. Meanwhile, the US was increasing the promotion of the “Pivot to Asia” strategy to play an active role and maintain its constant presence in the region under President Barack Obama. In general, the relationship between the two countries is a combination of cooperation and competition. However, China’s assertiveness then caused the relationship to turn increasingly to fierce confrontation and competition in all key domains. Especially, under President Donald Trump’s tenure, the US-China rivalry was more intense in the context of the world with many uncertainties.
