After being established in 1802, the Nguyen Dynasty faced challenges fromthe reconstruction and re-establishment of the country after a long period of war. During thistime, various natural disasters such as storms, floods, dyke breaches, and epidemics occurredcontinuously, leading to famine spreading from the Northern Vietnam to the Central Vietnam.Based on the Nguyen Dynasty’s imperial archives, the article analyzes and evaluates floods,dyke breaches, and epidemics under the Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1840). Besides, the paperexamines policies of the Nguyen Dynasty on responding to natural disasters and epidemics
thereby suggesting practical applications to respond to those problems at present.Sau khi nhà Nguyễn thành lập vào năm 1802, việc tái thiết và phục hồi đấtnước sau thời gian dài chiến tranh gặp nhiều khó khăn và thách thức đối với triều Nguyễn.Giai đoạn này liên tục xuất hiện bão lụt, vỡ đê, dịch bệnh, dẫn đến nạn đói hoành hành từ BắcKỳ đến Trung Kỳ. Trên cơ sở tư liệu Châu bản triều Nguyễn, bài viết phân tích, đánh giá các đợtlũ lụt, vỡ đê, dịch bệnh dưới triều Nguyễn (1802-1840)
phân tích các chính sách ứng phó củatriều Nguyễn khi xảy ra thiên tai, dịch bệnh
và gợi mở về ý nghĩa thực tiễn trong việc ứng phótrước thiên tai, dịch bệnh hiện nay.
