A simple and rapid method for the simultaneous determination of organophosphorus pesticide residues (Thionazine, Sulfotep, Phorate, Disulfoton, Methyl parathion and Parathion) in fruits and vegetables was established based on solid phase extraction and gas chromatography mass spectrometry. Pesticide residues are extracted with acetone. The extract was purified by solid phase extraction (SPE) using a C18 column and a hexane:acetone solvent system (5:1). The analytical recovery of organophosphorus pesticides simultaneously determined by gas chromatography mass spectrometry was in the range of 72% to 94% with an RSD <
5%.
