Cây thuốc đóng một vai trò quan trọng trong điều trị và phòng ngừa bệnh tật.Trong đó, cây Mía dò (Costus specciosus (Koen.) Sm.) là một dược liệu phân bố rộng rãiở khu vực nhiệt đới. C. specciosus có nhiều hoạt tính sinh học và nó được sử dụng trong yhọc cổ truyền để điều trị các bệnh khác nhau. Bài viết tổng quan này tập trung vào việctổng hợp thông tin các nghiên cứu về thành phần hóa học và tác dụng sinh học của C.specciosus nhằm đặt nền tảng cho các nghiên cứu sâu hơn về việc chiết xuất và ứng dụngcác hoạt chất một cách hiệu quả hơn. Dựa trên các dữ liệu khoa học được công bố, C.specciosus thực sự là một dược liệu đầy tiềm năng vì sự đa dạng các thành phần hóa họcvà các hoạt tính sinh học mà dược liệu này mang lại.Herbal medicines have played a critical role in the treatment and prevention ofsome diseases. Among a diversity of natural medicinal sources, Costus specciosus (Koen.)Sm. is an outstanding plant broadly distributed in tropical regions. C. specciosus has manybiological activities, and it has been used in traditional medicine for treating variousillnesses. This review article focuses to enhance and prepare a comprehensive review onphytochemical and pharmacological studies of C. specciosus, and aims to lay thefoundation for further study on the extraction enhancement of these biomolecules and moreuseful formulations. Based on published scientific data, these plants may suggest a giganticbiological potential of an abundant source of chemical constituents and a variety ofbioactivities contributing to therapeutic values.
