The traits of Saigon now Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) people is an indispensable factor in the overall culture of the South and the culture of Vietnam. This is a scientific and epochal subject, contributing to the research and application of theoretical issues about traditional and modern culture of Ho Chi Minh City and the South in the socialism-oriented market economy. The promotion of cultural values in the characteristics of Saigon-HCMC people contributes to the implementation of cultural laws of inheritance and development, cultural exchange and acculturation in a specific object of study i.e. the relationship and behavior of the people of Saigon-HCMC with the natural and social environment has created the core of people's characteristics, which has been expressed through their personality over the past 320 years. Đây là vấn đề mang tính khoa học, có tính thời đại, góp phần nghiên cứu và ứng dụng các vấn đề lý luận về văn hóa truyền thống và hiện đại của TP.HCM và Nam Bộ trong nền kinh tế thị trường định hướng xã hội chủ nghĩa. Việc phát huy các giá trị văn hoá trong tính cách con người Sài Gòn - TP.HCM góp phần thực hiện các quy luật văn hóa kế thừa và phát triển, giao lưu tiếp biến văn hóa trong một đối tượng nghiên cứu cụ thể là mối quan hệ, ứng xử của người con người Sài Gòn- TP.HCM với môi trường tự nhiên, xã hội tạo nên cốt cách con người thể hiện qua tính cách của họ trong suốt hơn 320 năm qua.
