The application of the Energy Efficiency Index for Existing Ships (EEXI) is one of the solutions to limit CO2 emissions from ships in order to reduce CO2 emissions from ships by 70% by 2050 compared to CO2 emissions in 2008. According to the provisions of MARPOL Annex VI 73/78, the application of the EEXI index officially took effect on January 1, 2023. Therefore, the determination of the EEXI index as well as the application of measures to improve the EEXI index for ships to be eligible for operation when the law applying the EEXI index comes into effect is an urgent issue for ship owners. This article presents how to determine the EEXI index for the Viet Thuan 30-02 ship, as well as analyze solutions to improve the EEXI index for the ship. The results of the article have shown that the EEXI index of Viet Thuat 30-02 vessel without any improvement measures is 7.05g-CO2/ton-mile, which is 26% higher than the required EEXI index (5.58g-CO2/ton-mile). miles). The most effective measure to improve the EEXI index is to reduce the operating speed of the vessel. This is an environmentally and economically viable solution when applied correctly.Việc áp dụng chỉ số hiệu quả năng lượng cho tàu hiện đang khai thác (EEXI) là một trong những giải pháp để hạn chế sự phát thải khí CO2 từ tàu biển nhằm giảm 70% lượng khí thải CO2 từ tàu biển vào năm 2050 so với lượng phát thải CO2 vào năm 2008. Theo quy định của phụ lục VI của MARPOL 73/78, việc áp dụng chỉ số EEXI chính thức có hiệu lực vào ngày 01 tháng 01 năm 2023. Do đó, việc xác định chỉ số EEXI cũng như việc áp dụng các giải pháp cải thiện chỉ số EEXI để các tàu đủ điều kiện khai thác khi luật áp dụng chỉ số EEXI có hiệu lực là một vấn đề cấp thiết cho các chủ tàu. Bài báo này trình bày cách xác định chỉ số EEXI cho tàu Việt Thuận 30-02, cũng như phân tích các giải pháp nhằm cải thiện chỉ số EEXI cho tàu. Kết quả bài báo đã chỉ ra chỉ số EEXI của tàu Việt Thuật 30-02 khi chưa áp dụng biện pháp cải thiện là 7,05g-CO2/ton-mile cao hơn 26% so với chỉ số EEXI yêu cầu (5,58g-CO2/ton-mile). Biện pháp hiệu quả nhất để cải thiện chỉ số EEXI là giảm tốc độ khai thác của tàu. Đây là một giải pháp mang lại hiệu quả về mặt môi trường và kinh tế khi được áp dụng đúng cách.
