Abstract: In the trend of educational innovation towards competency-based approach, with the particularity of experimental science, the use of experiments, especially self-created experiments in teaching physics in the direction of developing general capacity and physical cognitive ability, in which experimental capacity in particular is really necessary. The article discusses the current situation of physics teaching in high schools of Lao PDR in the direction of developing students’ ability through the use of self-created experiments, as a basis for proposing measures to foster students’ practical capacity, contributing to improving the effectiveness of physics teaching in high schools.
