The Mother Goddess worship of the Vietnamese inthe Red River Delta is a folk belief that was born early inhistory. By the time, the worship of Mother Goddesses haschanged to reflect the change of Vietnamese society indifferent historical periods. Before the sixteenth century, theworship had attached to the agricultural economy. After the16th century, it gradually reflected the commodity economywith the emerging of traders’ roles (through the image ofPrincess Lieu Hanh and Three Realms). So far, the worship ofMother Goddesses has been developed in close relationshipwith commercial activities. A series of Mother Goddessestemples were built along the North-South trade road with theparticipation of businessmen, traders. Believers found theirspiritual support to be able to confidently participate ineconomic activities when participating in the worshipactivities, the communities who lived around the temples werealso influenced (in terms of economic life).
