Since entering the period of Đổi Mới (1986), alongwith the changes in social life, the religious life has alsochanged dramatically, especially in ethnic minority areas ofthe northern mountainous provinces and the CentralHighlands. The most prominent was the “conversion”movement of a part of the Hmong people who have renouncedthe traditional belief to join other religions such asCatholicism and Protestantism. In that trend, a part of theHmong did not convert to Protestantism or Catholicism, theychose “the third way”, they followed Christianity but theyretained their spiritual values of the traditional religion.Dương Văn Mình was a phenomenon. Based on the viewpointof religious study, this paper presents the process offormation, development and basic characteristics of DươngVăn Mình phenomenon as a “new way of worship”, “thethird way” of a part of the Hmong people in Vietnam today
