Tragedy genre is taught in the General Education Program of Literature 2018 in grades 9 and 11. In the program, teaching content and requirements to be met in reading and understanding tragedy genre has been specified in all three textbooks. However, for the implementation and application into practice, teachers still face many difficulties because tragedy, in addition to carrying the general characteristics of the drama, also has some distinctive characteristics. Besides, tragedy is a fairly new genre, so references are few. This article proposes some measures to teach reading comprehension of tragic texts for grade 11 students in order to guide students to read and understand tragic texts according to genre characteristics.
