The article focuses on synthesizing the forms of the National High school graduation examinations (HGEs) for the purpose of expounding the influence of multiple-choice testing format onteaching and learning English writing skills at high schools. Due to the changing trend of the exam question format over the past ten years, in which multiple-choice testing format has been improved to be domination compared to the written style, student’s writing skills are somewhat affected, a great variety of students seemed to neglect training writing ability, but solely focus on test-taking skill, that is doing multiple - choice format practice.
