Social-emotional competence plays an important role in helping students understand themselves, manage relationships, and make responsible decisions. This article presents the currentstatus of students’ awareness of the importance of socio-emotional competence in learning. This study surveyed 504 students of Can Tho University. Survey results and quantitative analysis show that the majority of students appreciate the importance of social-emotional competence. This result shows that Can Tho University needs to pay attention to social-emotional education for students to help students solve learning problems in a positive way.
