Chất lượng nước sông Bắc Hưng Hải, tỉnh Hưng Yên đang bị ảnh hưởng bởi các hoạt động sinh hoạt, công, nông nghiệp, thương mại, dịch vụ,… Nghiên cứu tiến hành đánh giá nhanh được chất lượng nước bằng cách xác định cụ thể đối với WQISI, WQI3NTS, WQI4NTS
Sau đó so sánh giá trị WQI3NTS hay WQI4NTS với thang đo hiện hành đều thu được kết quả như sau: 16,67 % mẫu có WQI = 10 - 25, 16,67 % mẫu có WQI = 26 - 50, 50 % mẫu có WQI = 51 - 75 và 16,67 % mẫu có WQI = 76 - 90 lần lượt: Bị ô nhiễm nặng
Có thể sử dụng cho mục đích hàng hải
Tưới tiêu (hoặc tương đương), hoặc cấp nước sinh hoạt sau xử lý. Qua đây biết được các yếu tố và xu hướng ảnh hưởng của chúng tới giá trị WQI cần theo dõi, cụ thể là: Khi chuyển từ mùa cạn sang mùa lũ, khi lưu lượng lớn nước có chất lượng tốt được cấp vào điểm lấy mẫu, khi các chất ô nhiễm ít được tiếp nhận tại điểm lấy mẫu,… thì chỉ số WQI cần theo dõi có giá trị lớn và ngược lại.
