Background: Surgical site infections are a common complication and a top concern in all health facilities. Surgical site infections increase the length of hospitalization, medical cost and poor wound healing. Besides wound characteristics, surgery quality and host factors, some factors related to health facilities such as facilities and equipment, health workers capacities and environment are also affecting surgical site infections.Objectives: (1) Determine the rate of surgical site infections and the rate of isolated bacteria in patients with surgical site infections at the Department of Advanced Surgery and the Department of General Surgery, QuyhoaNDH - base Quynhon
(2) Learn some factors related to surgical site infection.Research method: Descriptive research, prospective survey from January to September, 2018.Results: Among 1219 cases operated at the Department of Anesthesiology and Surgery and received postoperative treatment at the Department of Advanced Surgery and the Department of General Surgery, QuyhoaNDH - base Quynhon, there were 23 cases of surgical site infections, accounted for 1,9%. Some factors related to surgical site infections were patients with comorbidities and ASA class ≥2. Some factors of surgery and patient characteristics such as age and gender were not related to surgical site infections.Conclusion: The rate of surgical site infection at Quyhoa National Leprosy - Dermatology Hospital in 2017- 2018 was 1.9%
