This study aims to introduce and analyze the teaching and learning of listening skills among English major students at An Giang University. In this study, there are five main reasons in the process of learning listening skills, related to students’ awareness of listening skills, language knowledge such as limited vocabulary, inaccurate pronunciation, lack of background knowledge related to the context of the listening text, the content of the listening text, and the following questions, the psychological aspect of students while listening, and the concentration ability of students during the listening process. Based on the difficulties which students confront with in listening skills, the study proposes some solutions to help students improve this skill.
