This article investigates the various factors that hinder the development of speaking skills among non-majored first-year students at Dai Nam University. Effective communication, particularly in the context of spoken English, is a crucial skill for both academic success and future career prospects. However, numerous challenges often obstruct students’ progress in this domain. This study identifies common impediments and offers potential solutions. The research aims to empower first-year students to build confidence and competence in their speaking skills, ultimately enhancing their academic achievements and future employability.
