Storytelling plays an important role in language development. Stories are motivating, challenging and great fun for learners. In particular, storytelling is a fantastic tool for teaching vocabulary to English language learners. Using stories enables the teacher to introduce or revise vocabulary by exposing learners to language in varied, memorable and familiar contexts, which will enrich their vocabulary and gradually enter their own speech. The paper focuses on the benefits of the use of the storytelling approach to help learners improve their vocabulary through a warm-up activity in the classroom.
