Using carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur sourced from thiourea to co-doped TiO2 (TH-TiO2), was preparedvia hydrothemal method using precursors of titanyl sunfate TiOSO4, obtained by decomposition ofilmenite ore in Binh Dinh. The structure and properties of materials were investigated by X-raydiffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Raman spectroscopy, Thermogravimetricanalysis (TGA), Uv-vis spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It was found that carbon, nitrogen and sulfur modification could be doped into the matrix of TiO2, by which it could hinder therecombination rate of excited electrons/holes and cause the absorption edge of TiO2 to shift to thevisible light region. The effect of photocatalyst TH-TiO2 was affected by the mole ratio of thiourea :TiO2, in which TH-TiO2 samples with thiourea: TiO2 molar ratio of 2.0 exhibits the highestphotocatalytic performance under visible light irradiation. The photocatalytic activity was evaluated bydegradation of rhodamine B 10 mg/l (RhB) in aqueous solution with the yield more than 90% after 120min under visible light irradiation. Keywords: Photocatalyst, TiO2, thiourea, ilmenite Binh Dinh, rhodamine B
