It is a fact that taking effective notes in lectures is an essential and useful skill for university study, especially for students who study English-Vietnamese Translation. Note-taking is most important to the interpreter because long-term memory fades very rapidly and the interpreter cannot remember everything the speakers say. Therefore, good note-taking allows interpreters to write summary records to obtain key information, and then they can re-express in Vietnamese. This paper aims to review note-taking skill in general, and suggest several note-taking techniques that students may apply in interpretation process in order to have a better performance.
