In the period from the 18th century to the first half of the 19th century, there were various movements in Vietnamese literature, including moralism, patriotism, realism, and humanitarianism. Of those movements, the humanitarian one was really new and the most outstanding with a rich diversity of content, containing many values considered as the artistic pinnacle of the era, contributing significantly to the formation of characteristics and particular values of the literature in the period, and reflecting great progress in the history of national literature.
