Self-study and self-training are an inherent human attribute, a way to develop each individual’s internal strength, and the main driving force of the education and training process. Self-study is necessary for students, because it not only equips students with knowledge and career skills, but also forms in them the ability to self-study and adapt to an ever-evolving life. Self-study skills are especially important not only in students’ learning and training process at university but also throughout their future work life. In the trend of integration and globalization, each person must promote their own self-study, research, independence, and creativity to adapt to the “learning society”. However, with the characteristics of students in mountainous areas, there is not much access to high technology, making students capable of self-study and proactive creativity is not an easy thing. The article gives an overview of self-study and some measures to help lecturers and students apply to improve the quality of self-study.
