In the first half of the 21st century, STEM/STEAM has become a popular educational method for teachers and educators not only in the United States but also around the world. We have known the importance of science, engineering and mathematics since the Renaissance period. However, as the world has become more complex and more technology-based, the importance of science, technology, engineering and mathematics has increased more than ever before, making them appear in policy and curriculum all over the world. This article mainly discusses the philosophy and importance of STEAM education in forming core competencies for learners.
