For non-English major students, in the process of practicing the four skids of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing, the expression in communication is slide awkward and unnatural, especially the ability' to pronounce correctly with the appropriate word stress. Due to the influence of mother tongue, students met with lots of difficulties in pronouncing words and distinguishing vowels and consonants in English. The article discusses the actual pronunciation of two English sounds /t / and /Ø/of first-year students, Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vinh Phuc College. The author and compares the consonant pairs /t/ and /Ø/, in English and /t/, /th/ in Vietnamese to find out similarities and differences between these pairs of sounds and pronunciation mistakes that learners often meet, as wed as propose some solutions to overcome the situation.
