Looking back at the division of regional cultures in Vietnam, from the concept of maritime culture, the author of the article divides Vietnamese culture into three cultural spaces: the cultural space of the mountainous and midland regions, the cultural space of the delta and plain regions, and the cultural space of the sea and island regions. From there, the author initially presents the elements of the cultural space of Vietnamese sea and island regions, including: literature, plastic arts, performing arts, indigenous knowledge, festivals and faiths
and at the same time, presents the characteristics of the cultural space of Vietnamese sea and island regions: attached to the lives of fishermen, showing attachment to the Vietnamese sea and islands, the attitude of preserving the territory and national sovereignty over the sea and islands. On that basis, the author expressed his ideas on protecting and promoting the value of the cultural space of Vietnamese sea and island regions.Nhìn lại việc phân chia văn hóa vùng ở Việt Nam, từ quan niệm về văn hóa biển, tác giả bài viết chia văn hóa Việt Nam thành ba không gian văn hóa: không gian văn hóa vùng miền núi và trung du, không gian văn hóa vùng châu thổ và đồng bằng, không gian văn hóa vùng biển đảo. Trong đó, tác giả bước đầu trình bày các thành tố của không gian văn hóa vùng biển đảo Việt Nam, bao gồm: ngữ văn, nghệ thuật tạo hình, nghệ thuật trình diễn, tri thức bản địa, lễ hội và tín ngưỡng
đồng thời, trình bày các đặc điểm của không gian văn hóa vùng biển đảo Việt Nam: gắn bó với cuộc sống của ngư dân, thể hiện sự gắn bó với biển đảo Việt Nam, thái độ giữ gìn cương vực, chủ quyền quốc gia trên biển đảo. Trên cơ sở ấy, tác giả nêu những suy nghĩ về bảo vệ và phát huy giá trị của không gian văn hóa biển đảo Việt Nam.
