Developing the ability to read and understand poetic texts according to the requirements to be achieved for 10th graders at the continuing education center is researched on the basis of theory of reading and understanding texts, ability to read and understand texts experimented at three high school continuing education centers in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. We determined the goals and implementation methods, including specific activities, and based on the implementation conditions at continuing education centers. At the same time, adhere to reading strategies, form reading skills, and how to read and understand poetic texts according to the requirements to be achieved based on genre characteristics, combined with choosing the SQ3R method (S - Survey)
Q - Question, 3R - Read, Recall, and Review (Read, Recall, Review) and teaching techniques such as mind movies, technique 321, KWLH technique (K - Known, W - want to know, L - Learn, H - How) for the "before reading" stage meets the goals of the 2018 Literature Program in general and specific lesson goals.
