Reading comprehension skills are one of the important skills that need to be developed for foreign language learners. For Japanese, a foreign language that has been selected to be taught at the university level since the early 90s and taught at the high school level in Vietnam since 2003, issues related to teaching skills Japanese language skills are receiving a lot of attention from many researchers, including the issue of teaching Japanese reading comprehension. This article will approach this issue through linguistic characteristics and structure of Japanese reading comprehension texts, thereby determining how to teach basic Japanese reading comprehension for Vietnamese teachers teaching Japanese.
