With the comprehensive education reform, the 2018 Literature curriculum has introduced multimodal texts into the teaching content (encompassing teaching reception and creation), this is also a new point compared to the 2006 Literature program. Specifically, the reception component sets out requirements for comprehension of multimodal texts. For that reason, this article aims to explore the characteristics of multimodal texts in the 11th-grade literature textbooks program (focusing on the "Connecting Knowledge with Life" series)
from this foundation, it proposes methods for teaching the comprehension of multimodal texts to develop students' reading comprehension skills. Above all, for educators, these suggestions serve as practical applications to effectively convey the content of texts that may initially seem dry and rigid.
