Using interdisciplinary knowledge in teaching history helps students perceive the continuous development of society, understand the comprehensive nature of history to overcome fragmented and superficial knowledge. Furthermore, using interdisciplinary knowledge helps students interested in lesson, easily to absorb historical knowledge, addressing the dryness of lessons. In this article, the authors clarify the value of interdisciplinary knowledge in history teaching, its necessity, and methods of exploiting interdisciplinary knowledge in history teaching. Based on that, we explore and use interdisciplinary knowledge in teaching the topic 4: “War to defend the fatherland and national liberation war in Vietnamese history (before the August 1945 revolution)” in the 11th-grade History curriculum (Kite textbook). Research results allow high school teacher apply to this topic as well as apply the method to lessons/topics at various grade levels.
