Play is the main activity of preschool children and games are the means to help children develop comprehensively in all aspects, especially developing pre-literacy and writing skills. Designing games aimed at developing pre-literacy and writing skills for 5-6 year old children through letter familiarization activities has attracted the attention of educators. This article studies the design of games to develop pre-literacy and writing skills for 5-6 year old children through letter familiarization activities at Mang Non III kindergarten, District 10, Ho Chi Minh City. Based on the principles of ensuring the purpose, attractiveness, systematicity, diversity, nature of play activities, suitability and development of children, the article proposes a game design process from determining the object, purpose, time of use, to the organization and rules of the game to develop pre-literacy and writing skills for 5-6 year old children through letter familiarization activities, contributing to improving the quality of preschool education.
