The study aimed to evaluate the preservation efficiency of the fruit coating, which composed of polyethylene wax and shellac (CP-02 coating) in storing Ha Giang orange. Result showed the CP-02 having high preservation efficiency and it is quite equal to that of the imported coating (BQE-15). During an laboratory storage trial, the respiratory rate, fruit firmness, peel colour, TSS, TA and vitamin C content have been changed lesser and slower in coated fruits compared to those of uncoated control. After 8 weeks of storage, oranges in both of coated fruit lots have been evaluated as good quality according to Vietnamese Standard TCVN-3215-79. A large-scale storage with 5 ton fruits/day capacity was established in producing area, in which, CP-02 still provided good preservation efficiency for 45 days with total weight loss less than 10 percent and good quality remained. Profit gained from 45 day preservation was 26.3 percent which can satisfy and promote preservation activities in Ha Giang orange producing and trading.
