Objective: The current tendency is to restore anatomically ligament as possible. One of the crucial points to success is knowing the anatomy of the ligament in details. This report aims to identify the surgical characteristics of the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL). Materials and method: Describe the anatomy of PCL while dissecting 11 formalized and 16 fresh cadavers. Results: The sex ratio male:female 1:1. The average age: 66.5 + or - 20.15. Right:left 12:15. length of PCL (mm): 2.6 + or - 5.48. AlB: 30.3 + or - 5.69, PMB: 31.9 + or - 5.04. Wide of PCL (mm): 10.8 + or - 1.82, AlB: 8.8 + or - 1.43, PMB: 8.5 + or - 5.60 Perimeterof PCL (mm): 27.2 + or - 3.69, AlB: 21.6 + or - 2.49, PMB: 15.0 + or - 5.54. In the intercondylar notch AlB spreads from 11:30 to 3 (the right knee) or 12:30 to 9 (the left knee), PMB: 3 to 4 (the right knee) and 9 to 8 (the left knee). Nevertheless, the tibial footprint is otherway, the AlB footprint is smaller than PMB. Conclusion: The Vietnamese PCL has some distinguished anatomic characteristics in comparision to the Europian American race. It is imperative to base on the Vietnamese anatomic parameters of the PCL to reconstruct it.
