Objective: To present the accuracy and safety of a novel "key slot" technique for cervical pedicle screw placement. Material and method: A prespective study of 46 subaxial CPS in 5 patients had been inserted using author's technique were reviewed. Results: On the postoperative vascularenhanced computed tomography scan, the authors analyzed the direction and grade of pedicle perforation grade 0 (no perforation) 78.2 percent, grade1 ( 25 percent of screw diameter) 4.3 percent, grade 2 (20 percent to 50 percent) 13.2 percent, grade (50 percent) 4.3 percent. Grade 2 and 3 were considered as incorrect position. Conclusion: These techniques are highly secure, while minimizing bone loss in screw placement, ensuring physiological curves in the cervical spine.
