Dong Nai river basin is the third largest river basin in the country, after the Mekong and Red - Thai Binh river systems, with water resources accounting for about 5.5% of the country’s total water resources. Dong Nai river basin has a natural area of 36,530 km2, within the administrative boundaries of 10 provinces and cities: Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Dak Nong, Lam Dong, Long An, Binh Thuan provinces and Ho Chi Minh City. Dong Nai river basin is considered having great values, the most prominent of which is the value of water resources, the main source of supply for economic development activities, people’s livelihood and regulating the climate of the whole region. This is one of 13 river basins in Viet Nam that must develop a general master plan for the river basin.
