Assess characters of 24-hour urinary uric acid excretion and renal complication in primary gouty patients. Results: In 68 patients, 7 (10.3 percent) had decreased excretion, 10 (14.7 percent) had increased excretion, 51 (75 percent) had normal excretion of uric acid. Gouty patiens had high prevalence of renal complication: 60.2 percent (41 patients) had positive proteinuria
27.9 percent (19 patients) had renal failure
25 percent (17 patients) had renal lithiasis. The urinary uric acid's decreased excretion had relations with renal failure and lithiasis.
