The study was conducted on New Zealand white rabbit stock in adulthood and naturally affected rabbits in Vietnam-Japan white rabbit breeding farm (Ninh Binh). The research on 35 infected rabbits shows that: - In pneumonia affected rabbits, there are common clinical symptoms like: coughing, nose discharge, shallow breathing, rapid breathing, abdominal breathing, noisy lung sounds (wheezing, rhonchi, rales, pleural friction rub), lethargy, anorexia
- Clinical indicators: body temperature, respiratory rate and cardiovascular rate in affected rabbits are higher than those in normal ones.Several Red blood cell (RBC) and White blood cell (WBC) related indicators: number of RBCs, WBCs, Hemoglobin (Hb) concentration, and Hb density in affected rabbits are higher than those in normal ones. WBCs formula: neutrophil count increases, while eosinophil, basophil, lymphocyte, and monocyte reduces
- The alkaline reserve of blood, blood sugar concentration, sGOT and sGPT count in affected rabbits are lower than those in normal ones
- Gross lesions in affected rabbits are mainly congestion, haemorrhage, and sometimes bleeding
swollen lymph nodes in lung
pink air bubble-mixed fluid in bronchi, alveoli
and sometimes even pleural inflammation and adhesion
- During the treatment of pneumonia affected rabbits, in addition to the use of specialized antibiotics and supplements, anti-inflammatory medicine and anti-irritant medicine for bronchial wall.
